PS6510 Initial Configuration Problem

Good day all,

We are having some trouble getting a Dell PS6510 (ST: 1QS72Y1) past the initial configuration. The problem appears to be when trying to link up with any of the 10Gib Ports on the controller. The initial setup shows there is no link as well as the switch. When we console into the switch, we can see the SFP+ cable (an FS DAC) is detected. We have tried both automatic speed and manually setting the speed to 10Gib with no luck. The controllers are Type 10 controllers connected with dual 10Gib SFP+ cables to dell 8024 switches. We have also tried other switches (S5248-ON) and cables (10KTek) and even sapping the controllers with no luck.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello,

First things that come to mind is that they aren't compatible cables or you are on the passive controller.

Don,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried all 4 SFP+ ports with no luck. We have Dell OEM SFP+ cables on the way so i should be able to test with those.

Hello,

FYI:  Only the ports on the active controller will work.  The passive ports will always be down until that controller becomes the active.

So unless you did a controller failover you didn't actually test all four ports.

Are these twinax cables?   Hopefully, the proper Dell cables will resolve it.

 Regards,

Don
