Welcome Salman!  Can you tell us a little about your certification experience?  Maybe a bit about which certifications you have, how you prepared, how the certifications have helped you in your job?

Hi,

This is Stalin working for ControlCenter Team in Bangalore.I joined EMC 2 years before as a fresher.Right now I am working as an ASP.NET Application Developer. But start from the beginning I was more interested in Storage Skills. But unfortunately the project in which I was working now doesnt have any kind of exposure towards Storage.

I started preparing EMCPA(EMC Technology Foundations) and successfully completed the exam last year. Then a year passed , still searching for an answer ,whether to choose  ASP.NET as my career or towards Storage. Finally I have taken the step of moving towards Storage.

I started studying for the Backup  and Recovery Implementation Specialist  Exam. Finally yesterday I have successfully completed EMCIE (BURA) exam successfully.

Right now I am little bit confused on what to CHOOSE NEXT ?  ( whether to write Customer Engineer Exam for Clariion or Symmetrix

or to write Implementation Engineer exam for Clariion \Symmetrix or to write SAN Specialist Exam ?)

Please suggest me a nice career path.

Regards

Stalin

Hello Sean, welcome!  That's a very interesting avatar, can you tell us a bit about it?

If EMC World will be your first overseas trip, you have a great deal of hot, sunny weather to look forward to!  And, you'll also be able to take EMC Proven Professional exams while you're there; just look for the EMC Proven Professional center.

You didn't mention if you have already achieved your Associate level certification.  It's a pre-requisite to the CLARiiON TA/IE Certifications (and others).

Sorry to say that I won't see you at EMC World, but you can usually find me here!

Hi Michelle8

Thanks for the welcome.

My Avatar is inspired by my wife who is a Professional Photographer by Trade and a qualified Charted Accountant. It was taken in 2007.

I have completed the pre-requisite???? I hope, The EMC office here told me to do the Quick start accreditation which i have completed.

I have already been registered for the IE/TA course on the training portal.

I am really looking forward to the EMC World Conferance. I believe it is going to be hot and sunny in Orlando that time of year.

Thank you for the heads up on the exams hopefully i will atempt them when i am there.

Hi again Revilo, I just want to make sure that you understand how the program works.  You can take the exams and courses in any sequence, but you won't achieve a Specialist certification unless you first have the Associate level certification.   We offer instructor led courses and eLearning courses to prepare you for the  Information and Storage Management (ISM) exam.  There are other choices for Associate level certification, but this is the most popular.

Here's a link to the certification framework.  Don't let it frighten you!  It just shows how you progress through Associate level certificatation to Specialist level.

Also, here is a link that will show you your options for Associate level certification in the IE or TA tracks.

You might want to try the ISM practice test to see how you do; maybe you could earn your Associate level certification at EMC World!

Hey All,

my name is Bas Raayman. I'm a Dutch guy, but I've been living and working in Germany for a company called SAP for almost 6 years now. I started of as an administrator of a small CRM application that was used internally but then moved over to our Windows team and administered our Windows serverlandscape. After that moved on to Linux (SLES to be precise) and now Unix. I am the main responsible here for HA-clustering environments (EMC Autostart is a big player in those landscapes) and because of this I also specialized in the server side of our SAN.

Looking forward to my 2nd visit to EMC World next month, and after attending the CLARiiON foundations in November '08 I hope to be able to take a test at the EMC World and get proven.

And in regards to my personal life, I enjoy a good bit of reading,  playing guitar and I also play a game called sledgehockey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sledge_hockey for more info).

Regards,

Bas

Looking forward to meeting you at EMC World.  I've added your name to a list of people attending (Proven - or those planning to get certified).  Feel free to update the document to list your specific EMC World interests to help everyone connect.

We invite Proven Community members to log their reactions to EMC World in the Community through terminals at the Proven Testing Center, ECN Booth, and CyberCafe.

Check out the list of events and locations where Proven Professionals can gather.

Hello Bas, I checked out the link on sledgehockey....that looks amazing!  I wish I could see a game in action, do you know if anything is posted on YouTube?

I'm glad to hear that you'll be at EMC World; you'll have lots of opportunities to take an exam there, just look for the EMC Proven Professional center.  We'd be so happy to hear that you left EMC World with a certification; be sure to let us know!

Hi Michelle, you can find a video on sledgehockey via the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFroEUToyaY. It's a promotional video from team Canada, but it should give you an idea of what it looks like.

Regarding the certification, I will also be able to take test that work toward a proven professional title? I have taken the E20-001 test-test (is that even right? ) and scored 78%. I will be learning a bit more, but I am not sure I will be able to have learned all that I need to become a proven professional (yet ).

I started another string....maybe we can get Sledge Hockey some visibility!

Bas, you were right that the E20-001 exam, Information Storage and Management, is the Associate level certification for most of our EMC Proven Professional tracks.  I'm not sure that I understood, did you take that exam already?

In any event, you'll be able to take that, and pretty much all of our exams at EMC World.  After seeing the kind of tenacity that you need to play Sledge Hockey, a certification exam should be easy for you :-)

Hi there!

I live in Austin, Tx area... but hail from New Orleans.  I validate Dell/EMC storage configs for our Enterprise customers in a pre-sales role, and recently began to work on HPC configuration opportunities.  I slept through most of high school, as I found it quite boring... but somehow managed to be on the honor roll (most of the time)!    Am at EMC World 2009 right now... so far, so good.  The Gin Blossoms were fantastic!
