Battery Charging Disabled

For some reason my battery isn't charging and I know there is nothing wrong with the charger, adapter or outlet. When I checked the battery icon and its options it said the battery charging was disabled. I am using a Dell 5520 laptop. How do I enable the battery charging? What procedure/s or buttons do I need to press? Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to the Community.

As you have mentioned that the message is “Battery charging was disabled”, please send a screenshot of the error message that you are getting.

Meanwhile, please unplug the battery and the adaptor; press and hold power button for 10 seconds and plugin the adaptor. Perform PSA diagnostics by pressing and holding the “Fn” key while turning on the system. Hold it down until the diagnostic starts. Click the link below for additional information about PSA diagnostics and error codes:

Please make a note of the error code, if you get any.

You can also update the BIOS of the computer. Please click the link mentioned below:

Enter the Service Tag of the computer and choose the Operating System installed on the computer (32-bit or 64-bit). Please update the latest version of BIOS available. It might take time to update the BIOS, please do not turn off the system while the update is getting installed.
