Inspiron Mini 10 Factory Reset

Hello I have a inspiron mini 10v that I wish to set back to factory settings, I have searched through boot menu's and as well as tried ctrl+F11 but still have no luck resetting it. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Ringer77

If CTRL + F11 is not working to initiate PC restore, it appears that the restore utility is not available on the drive anymore. I would suggest you to follow the steps below:

Click Start > My Computer > C-Drive > Dell > Utilities > DSR.
There would be a file named “Boot.Dsr” in the folder named DSR. It indicates that the PC restore utility is intact.

Next step would be to unplug the AC adapter and battery, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to release flea power. Then connect AC adapter and battery, press and hold the CTRL key while restarting the system and tap F11 only 5 times very gently when the Dell Logo appears. Please click this URL http://dell.to/hbIWHm for instructions.

If you still have issues in launching PC restore, would request to repeat the above process.

To request for Operating system disc please click on the below mentioned link:

Please reply me if you need any further help.

To clarify I have xp on my laptop, also I tried typing ctrl+ F11 like mentioned in the above directions, I tried that several different times with no luck. I dont have a dell recovery CD either, I do have an external USB DVD RW drive that can plug into my laptop to install it that way. Any other ideas?

Thank you very much, I was able to work with Dell support to get all the install media that I needed, I must admit the process went extremely smooth and they were able to get it to me in 2 days. Thank you very much.
