error on my laptop hard disk

hello

my  laptop is DELL N5010 , windows 7 home basic .

when i used the direct key creator to reinstall my OS  it gave a message the diagnostics on your device(s) have completed and errors were found that prevent us from continuing with recovery process we will attempt to back up your data if requested 

then i used the Dell diagnostics. it showed this message 

 error code 0146

msg error code 2000-0146

msg hard drive 0  

i hope to find the answer

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Re-run the diagnostics.  If you see the same error again, replace the drive -- it has failed.

Please run a custom test on the hard drive by following the below steps.


1) Press at the Dell Logo screen

2) At the One Time Boot menu, press the arrow key to highlight Diagnostics, then press to begin ePSA.

3) Choose no for memory test and then choose system test

4) Now click on custom test and highlight hard drive and click run test


If there is no error listed, run a CHKDSK /R command from command prompt. You can try reinstalling the OS if the issue persists


If the error persists you will need to replace the hard drive.
