internal mic picks up the fan and the HDD noise
i have an inspiron n4050 and i use skype allot on the move and im not a fan of external mic's so whats the solution to this ??whats the point if you put a built in mic that pics up every noise but not your voice !!!

I'm with you on this one....IT"S MAKING ME NUTS!!! It even picks up my external mic so basically I can record silent movies...welcome to the future?

Oh it's the fan alright...it turns on and off about quite often. The temp of the computer is not stable so it's really working overtime. Anytime I start a conversation or a recording the processors heat up a bit and the fan starts up. It's definitely the fan being picked up by the on board mic.

Did you ding any solution? I think this is not HDD or Fan noise, this is some problem with the hardware/software. Dell is providing a driver 'IDT 92HD87B1" for this which is available for down load and states that it will fix "Skype Noise". I have installed it but it has not fixed the problem
