m1330 cpu fan out of control

Hello all, I've got an M1330 whose cooling fan will run full blast for a couple seconds, turn off and then immediately start up again. It cycles like this continuously. Runs like this even when the cpu isn't under a heavy load.

Very annoying, and it' a recent development. Anyone have a suggestion? Many thanks
