The answer is yes, it'll work - BUT:

If you have an EIDE drive in the system, this one (the SATA drive) MUST be the boot drive, and

Because this is an old system, you won't see anything like maximum performance from the SSD - the controller will do 150 Mbps, which is nowhere near what the drive can deliver.  Yes, it'll be faster than a hard drive, but not as much faster as you might expect because of the controller limitation.

Hi again,

I already knew all your answers except if it even was possible get to work.

I'm not an expert to build systems - I have never tried it before,

Anyway, i don't any harddisk of anything on this computer at all.

Welf Este Wettin.

Works fine with Kingwin ADP 06 Adapter.

You would be much happier with a newer system like Optiplex GX620 Tower.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/803416719

These systems would be able to take your old hard drive and run with it.

They also have SATA ports and PCI-E video slots.

The GX620 or better can support all windows up to and including 10 with Pentium D 915 or greater.

If I chose a regular harddisk do so need this special extra hardware?

If so how big can this harddisk be and which type and  brand should I chose?

Any 3.5" IDE drive will work.

He only posted that because you were asking a bunch of irrelevant questions.

Some people get IDE HDD from the closet, parts-box, or old obsolete computers.

If you want to buy and use a SATA HDD/SDD, @speedstep already posted the recommended adapter (and other pertinent info), and @ejn63 explained why a SSD will still be a little slow.

I assume you're serious about this project, so you might should slow-down and actually read the responses.

The Kingwin ADP-06 adapter converts standard SATA drive to IDE.

http://www.kingwin.com/adapters/adp-06/

No drivers or anything to set you just attach to a Sata Drive.

IDE drives have not been made in years now so any drive you get is going to be OLD.

48 Bit LBA requires bios from 2004 or later and XP SP2 or later.

Otherwise there will be "issues" with any drive larger than 120 Gigs and Advanced Format.

My pc was born with a 200 GB IDE hard disk so I don't see why there could be a problem with that.

Anyway, I'm not sure there any slots left on my motherboard.

It says the seller is based in America, so have pay import fees and sales here in my country when the product comes to postel office department for noneu based import.

The Kingwin Adapter works with ANY Sata Drive.  The issue with advanced format has to do with 48 Bit LBA Bios.

As Long as you have bios  and at least XP SP2 that is not an issue.

Dell Dimension System BIOS, A12

Dimension 4600 and Dimension 4600i A12 System BIOS

Fixes & Enhancements

The following changes have been made to BIOS rev A10 to create A12:

1. Fixed Quick Boot menu when no bootable drives are selected in SETUP.
2. Updated microcode for newer CPUs.
3. Eliminated possible hang on next boot when AC power is removed.
4. Fixed intermittent hang in resuming from Standby.
5. Improved keyboard test when booting from Hibernate.
6. Fixed possible hang after unplugging and re-plugging USB hubs.
7. Increased USB keyboard wait time to allow all USB devices being enumerated.
8. Added to support in PXE boot environments with Spanning Tree enabled.
9. Prevent false MCE errors from causing "bad CPU" error in POST.
10. Fixed floppy access failures when CD floppy emulation is turned off.
Most bios that are at least 2004 have 48 bit LBA.

SATA Drives made after 2011 and larger than 120 Gigs are ADVANCED FORMAT and REQUIRE 48 BIT LBA.  Otherwise they DO NOT FORMAT OR BOOT.

If you attach a 120 GIG or smaller Sata Drive then this is a non issue.

CTRL ALT DELETE is MSDOS Booting.  This sequence DOES NOT INSTALL AN OS.

ALL Drives must have jumper set to CABLE SELECT.

Drives set to MASTER or SLAVE will not work.

There is no one size fits all for all models of drive as to how this is done.
