Dell Inspiron 15-7559 charger problems

i've had my 7559 for a while, not sure the exact time. however this problem just occurred today;

the problem is that the ac adapter just completely slides out of the port. it also won't charge. even if i hold it in there with my fingers it just won't. I don't want to buy a new adapter because i'm not sure if the problem lies in the charger, or the laptop itself.

Also the laptop's left hinge is loose, and i'm not sure if it has anything to do with the subject of this. from what i've seen it's common in this model.

i'd appreciate if you could comment on this, thank you for reading.

Sounds like you need to replace the port or worse the motherboard. You are right about not needing a new adapter. That refurbished part can be found here- https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=141&subid=604

However because of the condition of that 4 yr old model, you might consider replacing the laptop if you must spend more than a few $$ to fix it.

problem fixed! apparently the adapter was actually pushing back the port. what i had to do was pull the loose hinge up some more, and then use my fingers to pull the port back into place. i feel dumb for not realizing it was pushed back at first! i'll probably need to continue to do this until i decide to throw this laptop away but eh, better than nothin.
