Inspiron 15 (5577) Drive Upgrades

Hi,

I have a 128 GB SSD SATA + 1 TB 5.4K RPM HDD. I wanted to know if I can upgrade the SSD drive to a larger size and keep the 1 TB HDD. I use the HDD for long term storage, but I have software for coding and video/photo editing, which are not small, and I need a larger drive.

If not, what are some suggestions I can do? Also, what equipment will I need to clone the existing drive to a new one?

Thank you in advance for advice.

Dell certifies up to a 512 GB SSD for that model but you can upgrade to a 1 TB which is guaranteed 100% compatible by Crucial (though any quality 1 TB SSD M.2 NVME/PCIe drive will be fine). As for cloning read the excellent post by bmcowboy which has complete directions.

Than you for the quick reply. So I can run a 1 TB M2 SSD (Primary/boot) and a 1 TB HDD (data/backup)? If so, that is awesome.
