Support Assist Not loading on my Dell Inspiron
Wed August 20, 2020 All of a sudden Dell’s Support Assist Optimization tool won’t load.
I keep getting the error message
“We ran into an unexpected issue with Support Assist
Restart Your PC and try again later”
When I went to dell com support quick test
I got this message
You need Support Assist
Downloading Support Assist
Support Assist identifies your device's Service Tag, analyzes hardware problems, runs diagnostic tests, and scans for driver updates. After the software download is complete (this may take a few minutes), follow the browser instructions below to complete installation.
Note: Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. If the download doesn't begin within a few seconds, retry download.
When I downloaded Support Assist again I got the same error message.
I normally do not shut down my computer. Something like this happened a month ago.
and when I tried to restart my computer it crashed. Everything else is working fine including
my McAfee Life Safe antivirus program.
Thanks for any help

Reinstall Dell SupportAssist
You can try uninstalling Support Assist and then reinstall it to fix the “SupportAssist not working” issue. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Now, find Dell SupportAssist and uninstall it.
Step 2: Once the uninstall is completed, restart the system and then reinstall the latest version of Dell SupportAssist from the Internet.
Then, check to see if the “Dell SupportAssist not working” error has been fixed.

Hi. I was having that problem and updated the Support Assist Downloader and then the new Version downloaded. It appears (lately) there is an issue with downloading every time there is a new version. I have an Inspiron 15 3567

There was another similar case with this at https://www.dell.com/community/SupportAssist-for-PCs/Dell-SupportAssist-not-responding/td-p/6099871
Give that a go and see if that solves your issue.

I seem to be having the same problem. I uninstalled SA, rebooted my computer, then downloaded and installed it again, but it keeps giving me that same error message.

Having issues as well with Support Assist. Uninstalled but now can’t get it to re-install. Get error “Installation failed” with message to reboot and try again. Same thing happens if I try running any scan under Diagnostics in my Dell account online also.

Hi lowamom88
Please try these commands to see if you are able to launch Support Assist:
1. Press windows key ( or windows logo) and R key at the same time
2. In Run screen, type CMD, select Ok.
3.Type:
cd C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\bin
SupportAssistUI.exe Launch
Press enter on keyboard after each command, hopefully Support Assist launch
If the above step doesn't work, view information in link below, hopefully it will be a help to you as well.

Follow this Guide from start to end do not miss any steps
You may find that a few thing I am recommending to delete are already deleted from your computer so skip those steps.
1 Use Microsoft's Installer :
This step is crucial as Microsoft's uninstaller disables the services as well. Choose SupportAssist and uninstall, Uninstall Dell updates by running the the uninstaller again. If Support Assist doesn't show in List ignore this step.
Reboot (important)
C:/ Program Data/ PCDR
C:/ Program Data/Supportassist
C:/ Program Data/Dell/Dell data volt
C:/ Program Files/ Dell/Supportassist
C:/ Program Files/ Dell/ Dell data Volt
C:/ windows/Temp (everything inside the folder
Remove these Registries
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services key.
Delete Dell hardware service, Delete Dell client management service, Delete Dell updates.
Open device manager > system devices : If you see 2 Dell dala volt devices, please uninstall the second one.
Reboot
install SupportAssist

Has anyone found a solution to this, which doesn't take 4 hours and a doctorate in computer programming?

For me, I had the app "suspended" to speed up my bootup. When I removed the app from the "suspended" category all marked it as able to start up with the computer (I did this through cCleaner), it worked.
