Unable to update firmware for hard disk.

I have a Dell Inspiron 5567. I have been getting a message from Dell SupportAssist that a critical firmware update is required on my hard disk. The hard disk on my laptop is -

Model: ST1000LM035-1RK172

Serial: WDE51MRE

Firmware: SDM1

I am getting a prompt to update it to SDM2, but when I try to do that, I get an error saying:

Unable to identify bios hdd0. Download and use the usb boot key or iso cd image version of this utility. Please refer to seagate firmwareupdate utility documentation.
