Updating BIOS and hard drive firmware on a computer that will start but won;t bo

My Inspiron 17 5767 laptop won't boot up (won't go past the Dell logo screen).  It has been suggested that I update to the latest BIOS and hard drive firmware.  How do I do that if the computer won't boot up?
