Hello @borbeionut

Did you manage to get the 4k 60 hz in your inspiron 5559.

I tried plugging my Inspiron 5559 to a 4k tv but i could only achieve 30hz. And right now I was considering to buy a 2k monitor, but I dont know if it will run on 60 hz.

PS: Thanks!

@borbeionut  If the specs don't specifically say "HDMI 2.0", then it's very likely HDMI 1.4.  And fyi "2K" is a dangerous term to use because it gets used incorrectly so often, as you used it.  2K is actually a film resolution of 2048x1080, so in the consumer space it refers to the closest equivalent, which is actually 1920x1080 -- just as 4K is a film resolution of 4096x2160 and therefore when used in the consumer space refers to the nearest consumer equivalent of 3840x2160.  The resolution I suspect you were referring to is 2560x1440, which is rightfully called QHD or 1440p.  The former is only one additional character to type over 2K, but it adds a lot of disambiguation value, which can be important when discussing technical specs and products.

@Dnis_0702  If you can run 4K 30 Hz, you can run QHD at 60 Hz.  QHD is less than half the pixel area of 4K, so if you cut the total pixel area down by half and double the refresh rate, your bandwidth requirement is still slightly lower.  And see my note above about "2K".
