Creating Multiple Shares on Isilon 7.1.1.0 from sharedup /FO export

Hi there,

Hope somebody can help, we are experiencing issues using sharedup from our VNX to Isilon Nas (7.1.1.0). We have exported the list successfully using sharedup and edited it (saving as unicode) and run the sharedup as follows

C:\sharedup\sharedup.exe \\vnx \\smartconnectpool.fullyqualified.com ALL /LU /FI:shareexport.txt

The share export txt file contains the following.......

#

#SHAREDUP FILE

@Revision:1

@Source:VNX

@Target:smarconnect.fullyqualified.com

#

#General Info etc

#

@Drive:C

:sharename;sharename;\ifs\smartconnectpool\groupshares\sharename;

I have added the error txt file output as attached.

As we now have a copy of the share list manipulated in excel, is there an easier way to create new shares with this (as privilages will be "everyone") on the isilon without having to use sharedup?

Thanks

Jon.

Hi,

This is not (yet) fully supported nor recommended on Isilon, but it will be in the future (developers are working on it!).

You can take a workaround mapping previously to the administrative share (C$) of a fixed IP address of the cluster (I've noticed from the attached output that you are trying it with the SmartConnect IP), but again it is not (yet) recommended.

What you can do is use the Isilon CLI (bit.ly/isi_CLI_guide) with a very easy one-liner, or take the platform API and do it on a shell. For example, here is a post that talks about using the platform API from Windows Powershell: Using Powershell with the Platform API - The Basics

Best regards,

Daniel.
