Alienware m15x video card driver update issues

I haven't updated the drivers on this comp for a couple years, but now when I update my video and reboot to finalize installation, my scren begins to flicker in and out of resolutions and go hay-wire. I've tried everything I can, but can't seem to resolve this issue. Help? anyone?
