Axim X50 not Charging in Cradle

This seems to be more of a common problem  with both the X50 & X50V's.  When the PDA is first delivered it works fine and then after about 12-18 months, it starts to act funny when you put it into the cradle for charging.  The brightness goes dim and then bright and the charging light blinks between green and orange.  When you check the charging status under the battery icon, you can see it is charging and then not charging.  I have to put up with it because I am out of warranty and cannot afford to have someone check it out.  It progressively gets worse until it is impossible to actually put the PDA in the cradle to charge it at all.  You can sync it and use it in the cradle but the battery is discharging as you are using it.

 

Now I have an iPAQ H1910 I bout 5-6 years ago and I don't have any issues with that at all.  Is there a fundamental design flaw with these Axims?  Even some of the newer X51's are exhibiting the same problems.  Something needs to be done about holding companies responsible for fundamental design flaws.  The life expectancy of a PDA should be more than two years.

 

Would love to hear from someone at Dell and what their take is on the situation.  If you go over to Aximsite.com and read the threads there, you will find many, many, many cases where this is happening and people are getting ripped off by the bad seeds out there that sell the broken PDA's on EBay.
