Capslock issue with Inspiron 1750

Sometimes when I type, quite often in fact, I hit the capslock key accidentally and then I keep typing only to realize later that the little alert has taken me off my window to show the capslock notification and I'm now having to go back and fix what has been missed.  It seems minor but when it happens as often for me as it does it gets old...  How can I get that notifcation to stop showing up and interupting my work?
