Continual loop with startup repair

Whenever I turn on my laptop (Dell Studio 17 which is using Windows Vista) it runs Startup Repair and then says that it can't find any solutions to my problem so I click finish and it shuts down. It never gets past this stage. This problem came completely out of the blue!  I have nothing connected to the USB ports, nor have I recently dowloaded any software or updates.

The problem details are:

Problem event name: StartupRepairV2

Problem signature 01: AutoFailover

"" 02: 6.0.6001.18000.6.0.6001.180000

"" 03: 2

"" 04: 65537

"" 05: unknown

"" 06: CorruptFile

"" 07: 3221226021

"" 08: 3

"" 09: WrpRepair

"" 10: 1168

If there's a solution in which I don't lose any of my files, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! :emotion-1:

Start with an extended hard drive diagnostic - F12 at powerup.  It sounds like a drive that's failing.

I have the same problem, as well as about a million others including my laptop overheating. I called Dell and they said there are no known issues with this laptop, which is a load of crap judging by all of the posts about it on this community forum. I am just gonna send it to them, have them "fix it", even though my warranty is out of date, and then attempt to hold them responsible when the problems reoccur like they have for everyone else as far as I can tell. I think this laptop is a dud, unfortunately. A lot of money down the toilet.
