Dell INSPIRON R15 N5010 HDD Toshiba ULTRA DMA CRC COUNT 1219638
My new Inspiron received 4 days ago is showing a extreme very hig number of CRC error count in S.M.A.R.T. (Hd Tune Pro 4.5). I had run the Dell PC Tools Check and showed nothing. Had run Windows(W 7 64 bits) Disk Checks and showed nothing. BIOS is Updated last level A07, all aplicable driversand firmwares installed from DELL site, all Windows Update done. Any Ideas? It is OK or NOT?

2) Device Quick Check: OK
3) Drive Self Test Longo: cancelado
4) Drive Self Test Short: OK
5) SATA READ TEST: Cancelado
6) SEEK test: Cancelado apos algum tempo
7) Teste de SMART: OK (*)
8) Teste START: OK
9) Teste STOP: OK
Isto exigiria a retirada do disco do Notebook e
a substituição do cabo.

I got the very same issue with my Latitude. Dell Service replaced the HDD, and the SATA cable, but the problem is still there.

This is Incredible! Replaced the HDD and the SATA cable and the problem remains? What now? Here DELL refuse to do anything after I had reported this problem several times along a full year. And now the warranty period is over. My Laptop is still working but the problem remains the same. The performance is slow but the laptop still work, and there are several freezing/locking that I can not explain. Thanks for your comment.

hi Pascal, let me say you are not alone. I have the same laptop and i have the same problem
the max life of one of my laptops Thoshiba HDD was 4 months and min life was 22 days, I got my HDD replaced like 4 times in 10 months
Dell has got no solution to this problem
Got the motherboard replaced already along with HDD and the problem persists
I found that my Segate external HDD is way better than the Thoshiba internal drive, it stays cool and importantly the Ultra DMA CRC errors
are zero!
I was wondering how many laptops out their has this problem with internal HDD's.( might be a few notice it ! )
I have now said to myself finally, that if this 4th HDD crashes on me again i will completely discard it and use an external HDD to boot the laptop,
sounds awkward but better than Dells no solution.

Hi,
Thanks for your message, it is good to know that we are not alone. My Dell N5010 laptop is alive yet, but the warranty period is over, it has almost 2 years, the CRC continues to grow, and is more than 600,000,000 records now, but the unit is working. Dell refused to do anithing with it, because the CRC error does not appears in the basic standalone CD Drivers and Utilities test that came with the laptop. The problem appears in HD-Tune, HD-Sentinel, and even in the Dell Support Center application PC Checkup. But, the Dell support team here in Brazil does not believe in their own software!
I have another Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 with Seagate HD wich is OK.
Regards
Pascal
