Dell Inspiron 15 3542 bios firmware update problem windows 10

Hi all,

I have a problem with the wifi of Dell inspiron 15 3542. I updated it from win 7 to win 10 and the wifi keeps connecting and disconnecting until it can't find any wifi network.

I decided to update the firmware of the bios.

The bios firmware was in ver A01 and the latest is A10. I couldn't update fro 01 to 10 and it kept saying unsupported system.

So i tried to take it step by step. I wanted to update from 01 to 02 to 03.....10, but i did a mistake and i updated from 01 to driver 3443A02 and not 3442A02. Now i want to restore previous versions of bios firmware but i can't find a way.

What should i do?

thank you

gpscorpion,

You can click the link below to downgrade the bios version on your dell computer.

Downgrading the System BIOS on a Dell System

For me to better assist in troubleshooting, please click my DELL-Jesse L and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your Dell Order number.

I have done the Downgrade procedure but it didn't work because the default firmware was A1 for 3542 and it updated to A2 for 3442( It worked from A3 to A2 for 3442( 3442a02 drivers). So when i try to downgrade from 3442 to 3542 it says that is is a different system. The same goes if I try to update from 3442 to 3542 for A3( 3443a03 drivers). I don't understand why it let me update the firmware in the first place when the drivers are for different system.

The reason is that you installed the wrong computers bios on the system. There is nothing you can do to get that bios back to saying its the 3542. It now thinks it is a 3442.

Isn't there a way to bypass the model check and install the correct driver? or to wipe the bios and clean install a new?

Will I have problems with the wrong bios firmware?
