Dell Inspiron 15 5558 keyboard and touchpad not working correctly

I've been having an issue with both my keyboard and touchpad. When I am typing, I'll suddenly skip back to a previous line. Also, my mousepad isn't very sensitive at all. There are times where the cursor won't move no matter what I do.

Hi johnvu89,

Connect an external USB keyboard and mouse to the system and update the BIOS on the system.

Please enter your service tag # on the link below and click on ‘Get drivers and downloads’ then download the BIOS from BIOS section and touchpad driver from ‘Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices’ section onto the system and install it.

Also, I would advise you to download and install the ‘TouchFreeze’ software from the link below and check for issue resolution.

Please let me know if this helps.

I have downloaded the BIOS and I still have the same issues. I didn't see any touchpad drivers in the 'Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices' section. The only thing I see is the Dell Unifying Application.

Did the downloaded bios file install automatically or do you have to run it?

Find the utility to turn off the touchpad while typing. Your problem is usually caused by the hand brushing the touchpad. See if Quickset or Mobility Center is available on your model.
