Dell Inspiron 15 won't connect to internet

After my laptop updated to windows 10 automatically, it will no longer connect to the internet. It seems to "forget" that I even have wifi capability. I have a netgear wireless router and a charter modem. My only options under "network properties" are ethernet (realtek pcle gbe family controller - "not operational" and Bluetooth network connection (not available). I have not been able to use this laptop since May of last year. I checked for VPNS and there are none. I tried to download the driver for my laptop on a flash drive and it did not fix anything. I am so frustrated and at a loss. As a college student, this has made things nearly impossible for me for a year now. I got a new HP desktop for Christmas and it connects to the internet perfectly with no problem. Severely disheartened by my Dell computer that I used to love.

Hi TAYLOR276,

What is the exact system model? Is the issue with wireless connectivity or ethernet?

Have you tested with another network?

What is the current OS version installed on the system? Go to command prompt -> systeminfo and check.

Kindly review the following articles and try the suggested steps:

Restart and check in safe mode with networking - http://bit.ly/1LHcO2c

Enable the built in admin account and check if it works fine - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw

Create an access point on your Android smartphone (not iPhone / Blackberry) and check if it works.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your Name for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

Thank you for your response Rishi! It's an Inspiron 7537. The issue is with wireless connectivity. My laptop used to connect to our internet just fine until it just stopped when it automatically upgraded to windows 10 overnight last May. I had been on the laptop earlier that night and it connected to the internet just fine. I have tried it on other networks and it still could not connect to the internet. It doesn't even recognize any networks available. The current OS version is 10.0.14393. I will now check those articles. Thank you!

When I try to follow the first article, I don't even have my network connection listed there any longer. There is no wifi listed.

Hi TAYLOR276,

Thank you for the update.

Kindly check if the wireless shows up under network adapters in device manager. Kindly post a screenshot of the device manager with network adapters expanded.

Also, restart and check in safe mode with networking and in the built in admin account.
