Dell Inspiron BIOS upgrade

I have a T5500 processor, which is an Intel 64 enabled processor and can support 64 bit OS.

I right now have a 32 bit Win XP and was looking to upgrade.

The intel documentation says I need to have a 64 enabled BIOS.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. Is the bios version A17 the correct one?

Thanks

Aditya

Because of the chipset in the system, which won't release all 4G of RAM (assuming you install that much) to the OS, there's literally no advantage to a 64-bit OS on this system.  In fact, if anything, you'll see LESS memory available for programs with a 64-bit OS- the program footprints are larger, as is the OS kernel and other components.
