Dell L502X broken backlit keyboard connector latch/ black security clip

Hello

I have managed to break the  latch plastic clip that holds the keyboard backlight cable in place. Is there a place where I can buy this clip? A part number perhaps?

Thanks in advance,

Valentin

Hi Valentin,

The latch is a part of the motherboard of the system itself. There is no separate part that can be purchased for the backlit cable and the complete motherboard is needed to be replaced.

If you are comfortable in replacing the motherboard and you are residing in the US, you may contact dell spares to check for the price. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/11GOIPD. For Owner’s Manual, please refer to the link: http://bit.ly/YsCFqF.

You may contact Dell Out of Warranty Repairs (OWR) department in US by referring to the link: http://dell.to/15Ru1qU.

You may also contact any local technician and check if it can be fixed.

Feel free to reply for any other questions. I will be glad to assist you.

Hello,

Thanks for your speedy reply. There is nothing wrong with the connector or cable or anything that would require replacing the motherboard or soldering. It is just the small black plastic clip that puts pressure on the cable to keep it in place. It hinges up when the cable needs to be removed.

Thanks,

Valentin

Look for someone selling an otherwise dead board on EBay - you can probably pick one up for just a few dollars.  Salvage the connector you need -- otherwise, the only replacement is with a new system board.

I have done the same thing. I don't want to replace the whole motherboard just for that small black clip. Have you had any luck yet?
