Dell Latitude E5520 Processor upgrade
I have a Latitude E5520 with an i3 2310M 2.10GHz processor, socket rPGA988B. I would like to upgrade the processor to an i7 that has 4 cores. I was wanting to know of any compatible processors I could upgrade to.

It's almost certainly impossible without also replacing the system board and power supply - which will make for a very expensive upgrade.

Hi chili2721,
Welcome to Dell community.
You shall be able to upgrade to one of the following processors.
Intel® CoreTM i7 (2640M)
Intel® CoreTM i5 (2540M, 2520M, 2430M)
You would not have to change the motherboard, but might have to change the AC Adapter on the computer. As such Dell does not recommend you changing the processor. You might have seek help from a local technician to get assistance in installing the processor.

What kind of new AC adapter? My IT guys put a, i7 2640M in my laptop, and it didn't work. Maybe the adapter issue?
