Dell N5110 i7 Model Ram Upgrade

Isn't there any way to upgrade to 16GB ram on n5110 inspiron (intel hm67 chipset) model?

Why is the max ram is limited to 8GB?

It is also a function of the operating system.  WIndows 7 Home Basic is limited to 8G (64-bit), while Home Premium has a 16G limit.  7Pro/Ultimate/Enterprise have much higher RAM limits.

That is not correct, a lot of official places say that 2x8 GB won't work, but here I am running Windows 7 Ultimate happily with 2x Kingston HyperX Impact Black 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V Laptop Memory (HX316LS9IB/8)

Note: I updated to BIOS A7 to A11 (don't know if it's a necessity).

The official specs are just plain wrong saying Max 8GB@1333Mhz, as you see above 16GB@1600Mhz is just fine, here's the invalid excerpt from the Setup Guide for N5110:

The motherboard chipset, CPU and BIOS determine how much ram can be used and what type of ram can be installed. However according to specifications of your laptop it should support 16gb. However in this case the BIOS has probably been limited to 8gb. This is not uncommon for laptops.

Yeah but for this question the operating system is irrelevant in this case because he would not have windows 7 home basic lol
