Dell XPS L702X heating and cooling

Have read many posts on high heat for this particular model.

My question today is why is my XPS very hot running one day but then cool running next day.

Using same power setting 'balanced' both days.

have reduced % of graphics setting from 100/100 min/max to 90/80 respective.

I believe my Bios version to be A19.

No cooler pad but I do have laptop on blocks 2 inches off the deck.

Thanks for help

Hi jkavasch,

Thanks for posting.

Make sure there isn't dust clogging the fan vents. Use a can of air and spray out all the dust. Check what power profiles you are using, and adjust it to a more power friendly setting (one that causes the cpu to idle more and keep computer cooler).  Also, you can try flashing the latest BIOS from www.support.dell.com and see if it helps. If not, please perform a system diagnostics test by pressing F12 at startup, make a note of any errors and contact Tech Support at 1-800-624-9896 or 1-800-288-4410, or you can initiate a chat session at: http://dell.to/2v4snVm
