Dell inspiron 1420, video controller fail for window 8 pro

I can NOT change the refresh rate and resolution for my dell inspiron 1420.
I checked my dell manual, and the video controller is said to be 8600M GS.

I downloaded the latest driver: 310.33beta from NVIDIA.
and refreshed the bios to A10.

When I tried to install the driver, the error message showed that
"The graphics driver couldn't find the compatible graphics hardware".

Does anyone have any idea ?
I appreciate your help.

Hi DOFWS,

Updating the latest driver should fix the issue. Please do not search under Beta drivers as there is stable driver available for the video card on NVidia website for Windows 8. Before downloading, uninstall the exisiting driver and then install the new one. Restart the system and check if that works.

I hope this helps.

Please let me know in case of any queries.

Thanks and regards

Hi Harish,

I did uninstall the existing driver, and downloaded GeForce 306.97, which is the  latest Certified Drivers for windows 8,

When I tried to install it, I just couldn't pass the system check stage, and got the same error message, "Nvidia can't continue. The graphics driver couldn't find the compatible graphics hardware"

I also tried to install it in safemode and it failed at the same error.

I appreciate your time and patience.

Thx.

Hi DOFWS,

I suggest that you download all the 'Windows updates' available and install all the updates on the system. If there is a Video driver available in the update, automatically it will be updated.

Please let me know in case of any queries.

Thanks and regards

Hi Harish,

My computer just installed the update automatically, and the new resolution is 1440*900 now, which is much better. Problem solved.

I appreciate your help and suggestion.

Wish you a good thanks giving.

Cheers,

Shu
