Diagnosis failure

I ran a Dell ePSA Pre-boot system assessment and got the following message ( I don't use it much, other than when I travel once or twice a year)

ePSA 4228.19  Service Tag Service tag removed per privacy policy>  BIOS A12

Error code 2000-0142

Validation 85257

Msg: Hard drive 0 - SN/ S2X2J90CC07114, Short self test unsuccessful.

Technical support will need this information to diagnose the problem.

Please record the above Error & Validation codes

I also try to wipe out the drive and reinstall Windows 8 with the Dell laptop backup media and it goes to about 80% (in that area) and stops and says it failed to load.

If the system is under warranty, contact Dell with the error message and they'll replace the hard drive, which has failed.

If not, you'll need a new SATA notebook drive in the same form factor as the original.

Then you can use your backup recovery media to reload the OS.
