E1505 doesn't power up with AC

Latop is 3 years old nad battery was replaced 6 months ago. Yesterday, the system would power up. Nothing. I checked the AC adapter and the green light was not lit. I unplugged the adapter from the laptop and the wall, and plugged it back into the wall-- the adapter lit up; as soon as I connected to the laptop, the green light on the adapter went off.

The battery is completely drained, so no lights appear at all.

ANY clues???
