New Dell Data Protection versions
32bit www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
64bit www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
... but I cant download it, I hope this is compatible with Windows 8 too.
edit: Now I noticed that I was thrown to the older version, but I swear I've seen versions of 02/06/2013

Just for everyone still having problems with the fingerprint reader on a Latitude E6520 or E6530 and Windows 8.
Dell has released an update on their site, here's how it worked for me:
(maybe some settings are named different, I've got a Duch installation)
- Download the ControlVault, vA10 (CV_Drv_Setup_8THGX_A10_64bit_ZPE.exe, www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6530)
- Install the setup. In my case, it asked for an firmware update. Download it at www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6530 , CV_Setup_46KM0_A28_ZPE.exe
Don't forget to turn off the TPM in the BIOS first.
Note that in my case the DOS installation failed, so I ended up with installing \firmware\ushcv64.exe .
- Reboot and start the Broadcom "Control Vault WBF"
- Set "Windows Biometric Framework" to "Enable"
- Open "biometric devices" in Control Panel (WIN + X, Control Panel)
- Click "Change Biometric settings" on the left
- Enable the biomatric functions and the option to logon in Windows (if you're in a domain network, don't forget that seperate option!"
- Click on "Use your fingerprint with Windows"
- Enroll your fingerprints
- Reboot your pc. At the logon screen, click "Logon options"
- Select the fingerprint option and enter your password.
From now on, you can logon to Windows using your fingerprint!
Don't forget to turn on TPM again!
Next project in line is single-sign-on, from the fingerprint authentication after the POST, directly to the Windows desktop...
If anyone has a good idea; let me know!

Dell just released new drivers and software.
First, you must update your firmware of fingerprint hardware (32/64bit) www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
Then install Dell Control Vault Driver (32bit) www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
(64bit) www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
And Dell Data Protection (32bit) www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
(64bit) www.dell.com/.../latitude-e6520
FINALLY, PROBLEM IS SOLVED, THANK YOU DELL :)
BTW! Compatible list:
Latitude 6430U

User KAOKTIME posted required files and it works: en.community.dell.com/.../19473435.aspx
This should work for all Vostro users on Windows 8 x64:
1) Install this version of Digital Persona 5.2: runamux.net/.../DigitalPersonaFingerPrintSoftw.html
- i dont uninstall previously installed version 5.2. from smartsource.dell.com (dont know whether this step is necessary)
2) Install update to version 6.2.1 posted above: s3.amazonaws.com/.../setup.exe

Hi guys,
just to let you know that it's not working with windows 8.1 pro x64 on a E6530.
Dell Control Vault Driver install is working, but Dell Data Protection failed.

Related to the subject below, it seems that it may take a while after Dell propose a solution.

Any feedback on fingerprint sensor working on 8.1 ?

How exactly does one update the firmware? What downloads is a DOS batch file that calls DOS programs that Windows says is not compatible with 64-bit Windows. This laptop has no floppy to boot DOS from so I'm at a loss. Dell's dismal support for Windows 8 on laptops they CLAIM are Win8 compatible is unacceptable.
