Inspiron 1000 Mouse Driver

Hi,

       My old Inspiron 1000`s mouse occasionally stops working, but when I unplug it and plug it back into the usb port, it is okay for a while and it does the same again.  Is this a driver problem or something else. The mouse pad is working okay. Thanks.
