Inspiron 15 3521 GPU Slot?

Hey,

I am wondering if my Inspiron 15 3521 (Pentium) has a GPU slot.  I know I have an integrated GPU but does that still mean I don't have a slot?  If so what card can fit in it? (NOTE: I realize that I need space to cool it.)

Thanks, ;)

Hi Ian_Fa,

Dell has tested the following card with this system:

  • AMD Radeon HD 7670M
  • AMD Radeon HD 8730M

If you are planning to upgrade the GPU on this computer, then the entire motherboard has to be replaced as there are no separate slot available.

Dell-Appu S

I just got the computer... so I guess I'll wait awhile until I will do that.

But...

Thanks!

By the time it makes financial sense to do the upgrade, the system will be obsolete.  If it's brand-new, take advantage of the  21-day return period and return the system -- order a replacement suited to your needs.  You may even be able to negotiate away the restocking fee (but probably not the shipping charges).

Well, my problem is I bought it from Best Buy. I probably will be obsolete by then, but I'm fine with that as long as it works :D

Thx.

They should still have a limited time for returns - usually about  14 days.

Yeah, I think it's been longer than that; about a month.

Thx

It'll be even more expensive for this model system than you think, because the processor is a permanently soldered-in part, so it has to be replaced along with the board.

Hi Ian_Fa,

Are you referring to buying a motherboard? If yes, then you can purchase it from our Spare Parts and Accessories dept on 1-800-357-3355 (applicable for USA only).

However, I would agree to ejn63 point. It will make sense to purchase a new computer rather than replacing the motherboard. You would end up spending a good amount of money just for the motherboard as it is an expensive component.
