Inspiron 1545 Restore to factory settings?

So I bought a laptop last year in June and it had vista installed, since then I upgrade to Windows 7 via a disc from my university. I recently got a nasty virus and decided it would just be easier to restore my computer to it's factory setting. When I get to the f8 system restore menu I don't have an option for factory restore. I know I am in the right place because I just did a factory settings restore on my old inspiron 6000 from years ago. Any suggestions?

The manual installation overwrote the recovery boot sector.  First thing to check:  is the recovery partition (usually D:) still there?  If it is, you can access it with a boot CD or DVD (you'll need to make one using BartPE, VistaPE, etc.).

If it's gone, it's gone - manual installation is the only option.
