Inspiron Backlight "Flickering" Intermittently
Hi there guys... first-time DELL user here. :emotion-1:
Currently using a one-month-old Inspiron 17R-SE-7720 service tag [deleted by member] with back-light problems as follows:
- Intermittent and momentary dimming of back-light
- Occurs at irregular times and lasts less than a second
- May not happen for 30 or 40 minutes then occur half a dozen times in 10 minutes
- Change in brightness barely perceptible but obvious enough to be annoying
- Have (re)downloaded all current drivers
- Have carried out all appropriate DELL diagnostics (all show OK)
- Position of lid/hinges makes no difference
- Problem not apparent when laptop new but started approx 1 week ago
- Laptop always used on 240V power
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Geoff.

Hi Geoff,
Are you facing this issue with adapter plugged in or with the battery only? Also, check if the port is loose where the adapter connects to the system. I will recommend you to change the power plan settings on your system:
You can also connect an external monitor on your system to check if the same issue occurs.
In case the issue is not resolved, update the system BIOS:
Note: Please save any unsaved data as your system will restart automatically after updating the BIOS. Disconnect all the external peripherals like printer, camera, scanner, external hard drive, flash drive etc. Also, the battery should be charged 10% or above.
I have made a note of the service tag of your system. Please remove the service tag from this forum for security issues.
Keep me posted. Please reply for any further questions.

Hi again Vikram,
Thanks for the editing tip - have now done so.
The "never" option for the screen dimming (on battery and plugged in) seems to have fixed the flickering issue.
Will let you know if the problem recurs. Fingers crossed LOL.
Thank you for your prompt assistance.
Regards, Geoff.
