Installed Dell Support V3 and V2 will not go away

I am not sure where to post this question since it is software related, but here goes:

I have an Inspiron 9200 and installed the latest Dell Support v3 (with the little sideways E) in the taskbar. I read that when you install this version, it is supposed to uninstall whatever old version of support you have. When I start my computer, the old version (with the exclamation point) still appears in the taskbar right next to the icon for the new version.

In add/remove programs, there is no entry for v2... only the new v3.  How do I get rid of the old version?

Thanks!

Try right clicking the V2 icon in the taskbar and deleting it.

I always do that. But then after every reboot it comes right back.

try uninstalling it from the control panel. if that doesnt work go to:

start--> run-->msconfig-->start up--> uncheck the dell support v.2 and it will not start at startup anymore

I took your advice about msconfig and the only entry in there is for V3. Through some trial and error, I found that the process running V2 is notifyalert.exe. I did a registry search using regedit, and it found nothing. Where is this process starting from?
