Installing ssd in Inspiron 17R SE 7720

I just purchased this laptop in December.  It is the model without the 32G SSD caching drive.  Got a great deal on a 500G Samsung 840 SSD and want to install it in this laptop as an independent drive with its own os.  Proprietary bios and driver give me pause though.... Any possibility of step by step instructons to make this work?  All help will be greatly appreciated.
