Sonat - thanks for the response. In checking with our local computer geek, she advises that it may have something to do with the fact that Dell doesn't like us to use anything but Explorer and, if you connect to support for some reason, it will eventually note that you are using something else and call it an "error". I have been using Firefox, so she may know what she's talking about. However, if she does, it took Dell almost a year to find out. Maybe someone else will have a better solution.

:) I see your point, i've been using Firefox as well. Well, Dell started being a question mark in my head long while ago, particularly after I bought this Inspiron 1318.
Anyways, thank you very much...

I get this problem too on my Inspiron 1545, it's been happening since I first got it. To the best of my knowledge I've never used Firefox or any browser other than IE.
I suspect (with no particularly good reason) that it could be something to do with the Google Desktop apps.
I'd be interested in a solution, though it is little more than an inconvenience.

I too have the error. Mine started after I had tried to switch to Verizon service, but switched back to Comcast. This involved a big hassle with Comcast and Linksys.
Recently I've started getting an additional .net error.
I have an Insperion 1525. My husband has an Insperion 1720 and doesn't get the error. We have near identical software. We both use Firefox.
Has anyone tried calling Dell support?
Good to know I'm not alone.
