Laptop out of warranty 9 months after purchase?

I bought a Dell adamo 13 last year around october from on online retailer (not a certain well known auction site). This was brand new but came with a 1 year warranty as stated. Now I have a problem I enter my service tag and find this is listed as "out of warranty". I cant email specifically about this model because of this. Have you got any suggestions?

What likely happened is that you never registered the system with Dell.  If you purchased it from a retailer, see below.
