M3800 USB Ethernet HostID

I have a Precision M3800.  This comes with a USB to Ethernet adapter - not an ethernet port on the system.

I have configured a license file for an application (MathCAD) based on the LAN adapter hostID which I thought would have been the internal card - I am assuming it has one.  However, the application will only run with the USB adapter plugging in.  If it is removed then the HostID cannot be found.

Does the internal card power down when the USB adapter is not plugged in?
Is there a way of getting it to stay on so the hostID can be found whether the adapter is in or not?

Thanks

Sean

Hi ,

Ethernet adapter is necessary because this system does not have an internal card hence when the adapter is disconnected you loose connection and host ID is lost .I hope this resolves your question .

Have a great day ahead!

Kindest Regards,

Hi Jennifer

Thanks for the reply.  I guess I will have to reconfigure my licenses to use a WLAN hostID.

Best wishes

Sean
