My Dell won't switch on!

Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 which won't switch on. The device was working a few minutes ago until when it shutdown because the battery was low.

I got home and plugged it in and showed no indication of charge. The charge led doesn't go on but when I plug it in, the led on the charger switches off after I plug it in my laptop.

Please help me out because I'm a student and can't risk all my data being wiped.

Try the following:

1) Unplug the charger from the laptop

2) Remove or disconnect the battery

3) Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds

4) Reinstall or reconnect the battery

5) Try powering on

6) Plug the charger back in to the laptop

7) If step 5 didn't work, try powering on again

I would also suggest try turning the computer on while plugged in and the battery is removed.  There could be something with the battery that is shorted out drawing too much power for the power supply and if you remove the battery it could work that way.  If it does, then you know your battery is bad and you'll have to buy a new one.
