My Inspiron 3521 Won't Get Past The "Preparing Automatic Repair" Screen
As the title says, my Inspiron 3521 will turn on but can't get pass the Preparing Automatic Repair screen. That screen will pull up and then go to black. I can't access anything on my laptop. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Run a full diagnostic on the hard drive. F12 at powerup BEFORE Windows begins loading.

I ran the diagnostics test and it pulled up "Error Code 2000-0142" Any help on what that means or how to fix it? Thank you!

It means the source of the problem is a failing hard drive. You'll need a new 2.5" SATA drive - hard drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive -- once the drive is replaced, reload everything from your backups and the system will boot correctly.
