NVIDIA GTX 980M upgrade

Today I tried to upgrade from the 790M to the 980M, when I rebooted the Device Manager did not show the new card but the generic Microsoft display adapter with a 31 code. I tried updating NVIDIA

drivers to no avail. The NVIDIA GFX shows in BIOS for discrete graphics.

Any help would be appreciated.
