'No Audio output device is installed' Dell Inspiron 15z Windows 10

The audio on my device stopped working. Taskbar audio icon shows a red X as if muted, when you mouse over the icon, it shows the error 'No Audio Device is Installed'. Checked under device manager unable to find sound option. Installed Realtek HD audio drivers from the Realtek website with no solution. Please help?

You can get the drivers from the Inspiron 15z 5523 html page. Use either the Win 8.1 driver (labelled "WB64A") or one of the Win7 ones. First go into Device Manager and right click on the Realtek High Definition Audio Device to open the context menu, then "uninstall" and check the box to "delete the driver software for this device."

When you re-boot Windows will remove the Realtek driver and install its native audio driver. See if audio works. Then you can install an IDT driver over the native driver without removing it first.

If neither the native nor IDT driver helps, try reverting to your previous operating system. If the audio still does not work then the hardware has probably failed. If it does work in the previous OS, then perform a clean installation of Win10 and see if it works.

Hello. Is it an Inspiron 15z 1570 which has Realtek audio, or an Inspiron 15z 5523 that has IDT audio?

It's a Dell Inspiron 15z 5523, was not aware it has IDT audio. When I checked in Device manager it said 'Realtek'.
