Nvidia drivers for XPS L502X, Win 7 x64
I am getting, via Windows update, an optional update for the Nvidia GT540m adapter software that is much more recent than the 'official' Dell drivers. Mine is currently 306.97, the latest driver available from Nvidia seems to be 331.82 but can it be safely downloaded from anyone except Dell?

Hi Fred,
Dell recommends the Video card driver to be updated from Dell support site as it is thoroughly checked for compatibility with Dell systems.However you can go head download and install it from the nvidia website to check if it works good with your system.

Thanks, is there some technical reason why Dell so infrequently updates video drivers?

Hi Fred,
Dell does check the latest drivers from the respective vendor sites. If the driver is compatible with the system only then it releases the latest driver.
