Odd network connection issue

When I boot my laptop up, I cannot connect to my home wireless network. BUT, if I unplug my router, and plug it back in AFTER my laptop is already running, I can THEN connect to the network. I am using the Intel WiFi link 5300 802.11AGN wireless network card. Granted this is not a HUGE problem but it is very annoying to have to reset my router every time I want to connct to the wireless network.
