Rubberized Material on Laptop Palmrest- How to Clean?!

Hi everyone,

I've got a Dell Inspirion  13 7347, 2-in-1 series laptop. The material on the laptop is a type of rubberized type material that also appears to look like metal but is soft and rubbery to the touch. This material apparently tends to soak up and absorb stains easily! My palm rest now has a stain from a cosmetic product that seems to not want to come out of the rubber.

Does anyone know what the best way to clean this is? I've tried soap and water, dish detergent, magic eraser sponge, vinegar, baking soda, nail polish remover, hydrogen peroxide...I am running out of ideas and quite frankly getting fed up that it cannot be removed. I like the material, however, it is IMPOSSIBLE to clean once something has absorbed into it and has discoloured it. I'm  considering returning it and getting a replacement if I can't get rid of this stain.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. I do not see any obvious surface damage from the methods I've tried, (aside from the "stain" still being there and looking the same). I hope I didn't make any permanent surface damage! I may need to go through the hassle of getting it replaced but I don't want to give up just yet...

I wonder if there are any rubber cleaning products that might help?

If it hasn't come out with soap and water, it likely won't - the palmrest would need replacement.  Using nail polish remover likely permanently damaged the surface material (that was a mistake).

What to do if the rubber surface around was all damaged by nail polish remover with glycerin? Is there any solutions to this problem or replaceable part?

I'm not sure what could help a surface damaged with nail polish remover/glycerin, unfortunately. However, I was able to get my palm rest replaced (under warranty).  Perhaps you could look into that as well?
