Using SPDIF digital audio output with Inspiron 6400/E1505

Hi,

I looked for information about it on this forum and on the web and couldn't find anything so... I saw that in the manual of the laptop there is an adapter that can be connected to the S-VIDEO output of the laptop from one side that enables you to connect s-video cable, rca video cable (composite) and S/PDIF (SPDIF) digital audio cable output. Since I don't have Sound Blaster installed (just the regular Sigmatel audio card) I was surprised. I also didn't receive any adapter with the laptop. I searched for it on Dell's website and couldn't find it. But on eBay I did. It coses 5$ and total of 12$ after shipping etc. I checked it and voulla, it works great, producing 6 audio output, when watching a DVD movie, for example. Please spread the word so everyone can enjoy. I don't know if other models can use it too or not. The clue I had on my laptop was: On the volume control, click on ADVANCED tab, and see if there is a check box "SPDIF interface".
To find the cable on ebay, search for "044CTV"

Good day.
