Windows 7 Webcam Issue

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 Windows 7 and Webcam Central does not recognize my built-in webcam. I followed the instructions on Technical Support that told me to click on "Imaging Device" and if I do not have one (which I don't) then contact Technical Support. After more than an hour with technical support website, I still do not have an imaging device. Please let me know how I can get this re-installed which is standard with my Windows 7.

Thank you, Ravi.  I already did that and still no imaging device in my device manager and webcam central does not recognize my built-in webcam.

Everything I have read states that the Imaging Device is "native" to Windows 7, then why isn't it on my laptop?  I would love to know how to get that device back on my computer.

Hi JanaMay,

Good work on troubleshooting. I would suggest you to update the BIOS on the computer. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS required onto the system and install it.

Also, I would suggest you to run the test on Webcam on the system.

1.       Open the link http://dell.to/14YjKb2

2.       Select ‘Hardware’ under ‘Choose a Diagnostic Type’.

3.       Select ‘Camera’.

4.       Click on ‘Run Diagnostics’ button.

5.       Let me know if the results.

Ravi,

I just tried it again but this time I was told that my system is out of warranty and to contact Technical Support via telephone.  I do not believe that I should be charged to install an Imaging Driver which is "NATIVE" to Windows 7.  I really need this issue resolved ASAP.  Please tell me how I can get the Imaging Driver installed on my computer; it's just that simple.

Hi JanaMay,

If the Camera diagnostics is not detecting the camera then it should be faulty and you will need to replace it.
